Anne Garland

STATEMENT

My work is inspired by firsthand, experiential connections to the natural world. Standing along the shore or on the edge of a meadow, deep in the boreal forest or high alpine tundra, I am set into motion to visually express what fully absorbs, fascinates, and renews me.

The materials and methods I use varies. The mediums of painting, printmaking, and sketching each lend their unique qualities and contributions to image making. My choice is dependent on my subject and what I wish to articulate about it. Ideas develop over a period of time, a process that is ever evolving, adding greater insight, depth, and significance to my work.
